I am sure many of you have noticed on your daily sheets that we have music class once a week.  A parent recently asked me what exactly this means so I’d like to tell you a little about it in case more of you are curious.  Once a week, either Wednesday or Thursday morning, we are lucky to have Ms. Sharon come to the school and share fun songs and instruments with each classroom.  Ms. Sharon plays the guitar which is a special treat — the children, and teachers too, are mesmerized by her playing!  She sings some familiar tunes (Old McDondald, Twinkle Twinkle, and the like)  but mostly she teaches us new songs, some of which she writes herself! Often the songs relate to an upcoming holiday.  For example, last week a she sang about Chinese New Year!  Some of the toddlers are able sing along with Ms. Sharon but a lot of them just listen and learn.  When the instruments come out, however, everyone participates.  Paddle drums, shakers, and rhythm sticks are favorites among the kids.  It is a true highlight of our week and we are so grateful for our musical lesson!

Last week, we celebrated Anna’s birthday!  She turned two and she shared a beautiful fruit tray with the class.  It was a delicious treat and all her friends enjoyed it.  We’ve also been learning about colors and shapes.  Miss Casey has found some fun ways for the toddlers to work on them — new felt board, new wall murals, colored balls, and lots of time for painting!  We’ve been a busy group!
