March 24-28
Here at the Montessori Academy of Chapel Hill, we like to celebrate birthdays in style. When a child is developing their own sense of self, the celebration and acknowledgement of birthdays are vital; what fun it is to have a whole day devoted to your own, unique being! This week we celebrated Emily turning 2. Her mom and dad graciously brought in vanilla yogurt and different colored sprinkles for us to eat; the little ones had a lot of fun getting to choose the different what colored sprinkles they wanted to top their nutritious, yummy dessert with. On top of that, each child was able to take home their very own rose! The colors, feel, and smell of the roses made for a pleasurable sensory experience for the kiddos.
One of the best parts about being in the toddler room is the constant crafting that we get to do! This week we chose colorful feathers and glued them onto little blue birdies to signify the arrival of spring. With our bird seed creations, new feather bird friends, and playing outside, “birdie” has been one of our new favorite words to say and is popular among the children.
I hope everyone had a great weekend and has been preparing for the beautiful Spring weather!
