Marine Life

sunbathing boys For Marine Life week, we read chapters from The National Geographic Big Book of Oceans  during circle time.  We learned about the oceans of the world and their temperatures, sharks, dolphins, coral reefs and jelly fish. The jelly fish were a special request from students.  Montessori education encourages teachers to follow the curiosity of the children and we do that as much possible.  Our children shared their many encounters with aquariums and oceans during circle time. On Fun Friday, we made a coral reef with cork and sponge stampers and added a clown fish for a finishing touch.  However, our children drew fish and water  all week long during their free art time.  Wednesday was Splash Day and Friday we had a dance party because it was too hot to go outside again. Summer is full of fun and we loved the Friday costumes, especially anemone and marine biologist.
